This report documents the three-dimensional (3D) property model of the Spirit River Formation in Alberta. The model area covers approximately 181 500 km2 and is bounded by the Alberta–British Columbia border in the west, the deformation edge associated with the Canadian Rocky Mountains to the southwest, the depositional limit of the Spirit River Formation to the north and east, and the transition of the formation into correlative strata of the lower Loon River Formation and upper Mannville Group to the southeast. The model volume is defined by the top and base surfaces of the Spirit River Formation taken from version 3 of the Geological Framework of Alberta model, and is divided into three model zones: the Notikewin, Falher, and Wilrich members. The model consists of three properties in a 3D grid generated from petrophysical well-log analysis: shale volume, total porosity, and total organic carbon. The kriging algorithm in Schlumberger Petrel 2019 (Petrel) was used to model these properties. Mean and standard deviations were estimated for each property to represent the uncertainty. Petrel was used to create the model and export it to nonproprietary formats for use in other software.
