Digital Data 2023-0019

Author(s) Date 2023-08-25

This digital dataset contains geochemical analyses results for 312 brine samples collected from producing oil and gas wells in Alberta in 2021 and 2022 as part of the Alberta Energy Regulator's Mineral Mapping Program. The geological units these wells were producing from include the Nisku Formation, Keg River Formation, Leduc Formation, Montney Formation, Granite Wash, Slave Point Formation, Swan Hills Formation, Beaverhill Lake Group, Mannville Group, Ellerslie Member, Pekisko Formation, and others.

The samples underwent routine water analysis, and were analyzed further for trace elements and metals, and strontium, lithium, oxygen, hydrogen, and boron isotopes. Some samples were also analyzed for sulphur, carbon, and chlorine isotopes. The analyses of sulphur, carbon, and chlorine isotopes, and some of the boron isotope analyses, were carried out as part of the Alberta Energy Regulator's Geothermal Mapping Project and included here for completeness.

This dataset supersedes the previous publication DIG 2022-0052.

This work was completed under the Mineral Grant provided by the Government of Alberta June 22, 2021.
