Digital Data 2023-0015

Author(s) Date 2023-04-25

This digital data release includes the results of whole-rock major and trace element geochemical analyses of plutonic and metamorphic rock samples from the Canadian Shield of northeastern Alberta. The samples are part of the Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) collection of Alberta Precambrian shield rocks created by the late John Godfrey in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. A selection of samples from this collection were analyzed to obtain whole-rock composition for the detection of minerals of economic interest and obtain a complete chemical characterization. Standard laboratory whole-rock geochemical analysis methods were used to provide the values reported.

This digital data release supersedes AGS Digital Data 2022-0048.  Version 2 includes two important updates: the addition of 1721 samples analyzed from the AGS collection of Alberta Precambrian shield rocks, and geology data from AGS Map 537 which replaces the geology data from AGS Map 600 in the original AGS Digital Data 2022-0048.

This work was completed under the Mineral Grant provided by the Government of Alberta June 22, 2021
