This land-use and land-cover (LULC) classification dataset is derived from 2020 Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery (10 m spatial resolution) of Alberta. Up-to-date LULC information is required to help inform and mitigate impacts associated with both natural and anthropogenic disturbances. Time-series LULC datasets provide spatially explicit information regarding land-cover transitions and possible changes in environmental pathways, such as a change from forest to a temporary or longer-term industrial use. LULC monitoring helps enable cumulative environmental impact assessment and determine the baseline conditions and the impact on the biophysical environment.

This land classification raster dataset contains 14 classes: 1 - Water, 2 - Bryoids, 3 - Wetland – Treed, 4 - Herbs, 5 - Exposed/Barren Land, 6 - Shrubland, 7 - Wetland, 8 - Grassland, 9 - Coniferous, 10 - Broadleaf, 11 - Mixedwood, 12 - Agriculture, 13 - Developed, and 14 - Burned Areas.
